This small island with 45 residents, lies between Crete and Kythera (southern Greece)making it ideal anchorage for all those traveling by yacht or motor boat and  wish to make a brief stop.
Because of its strategic position ,in the past ,the island used to be a lair of pirates who roamed the area. Indeed even to day exists one of the few shipsheds (sloping space for storing boats) kept whole in Greece,a carved whole rock.Travelers are charmed by the wild beauty of Antikythira.
